The next screening of The Butterfly Effect will be in Minneapolis at the Central Library, Pohlad Hall, on Tuesday May 24th, 2016 at 7 PM.
A personal essay combined with documentary interviews-- The Butterfly Effect is a delightful film about the efforts being made to save the monarch butterfly.
Due to several factors: increased habitat loss, and pesticides, the population of monarch butterflies in the Midwestern flyway is crashing, and with it, go native bees and countless other small insects of the prairies. In rural Minnesota many individual landowners are coming to the conclusion that this is an issue they can do something about.
The Butterfly Effect brings awareness about the prairie and the particular plants that are ecologically vital to a healthy landscape. Connections are made between art and natural science.
And through a series of humorous, poignant and heartfelt stories, the film illustrates how ordinary people: gardeners, teachers, artists and citizen scientists, are bringing attention to the monarch's cause.
The Plains Art Museum in Fargo will screen The Butterfly Effect on Thursday, September 22nd, 2016 as part of the Heritage Garden dedication.
